Lauren was born in the US and spent her childhood years in what was then Czechoslovakia. When the cold war ended, she returned to Prague, where she spent a couple of years helping to bring together western businesses and Czech entrepreneurs.
Raised by two generations of old-school journalists, she was taught from a young age that "to be good, you don't have to know everything, but you do have to know how to find out
everything." She believes her uncanny ability to communicate just about anything to just about anyone was inherited from these folks.
Her relentless curiosity has led her to a broad range of occupations, including stints as a software developer, technical writer, land survey technician, copy editor,
carnival worker, translator, chiropractic technician, art school model, and more.
Along the way she has always been sought out for her ability to uncover and convey information and knowledge of all sorts.
She believes in giving more than is strictly required, and in leaving a place better than she found it.
In her free time she walks, indulges her passion for music, plays in watercolors, and reads others' views of What It's All About.
She moonlights as an editor and writer, and if she could do whatever she wanted, she would spend all of her time writing.
She is passionate about her family and agrees with John Lennon:
"If everyone demanded peace instead of another television set, then there'd be peace."
